Maelor School pupils and staff welcomed visitors this October from their Partnership School, St Saviour's in Lesotho.
Six pupils and two staff took part in daily school life for a week enjoying lessons and school activities they had not experienced before such as swimming in our indoor pool. In the evenings they tried all sorts of activities including bowling and going out to the cinema. The highlights of the visit included a visit to Llandudno beach, a day in London, a reception at the Wrexham Mayor's Parlour and a whole school Celebration Assembly in the sports hall when they sang both national anthems.
Our visitors stayed with the families of our pupils and staff and were made to feel very welcome.
Nominated sixth form pupils and staff from the Maelor School have a planned return visit in February 2013 to the school in Lesotho where they will learn more about their culture and country. It is six years since we started our link and it is strengthened more each year by these visits and support.
